Sastriyar’s childlike trust in God the Father, reformist mindset, boldness to take the devil head-on, enduring faith in a risen savior, and sadness over the state of affairs in the church are revealed through the lyrics.
It ought to be mentioned that a few of the lyrics in this book have been composed by others in the Sastriyar family, most notably Eliya Deivasigamony, Vedanayagam’s youngest son (and my great grandfather).
பேரின்பக்காதல்
PERINBAKADAL
Contemplation on the nativity and sufferings of Christ, and is made up of four little books called ஞானத்தாராட்டு (Gnanatarattu), திருச்சபைத்தாராட்டு (Tiruchabaitarattu), பேரின்பக்காதல் (Perinbakadal) and பிரலாப ஒப்பாரி (Pralaba Oppari). The first three were composed in 1813 and the last in 1834.

Vedanayaga Shastriar, The Evangelical Poet has composed this in plain verses to the tune in the fable of Sithraputtran that even the young children may sing them easily illustrating it according to the tenor of Scriptures.
